Pezenas
is just a 25 minute drive with its fabulous bustling Saturday market (6 am - noon) through the 18th Century main centre, has medieval routes. After passing through the stone arch called the Port-de-Faugeres at the top of the town you can wander through IVth and Vth century streets of individual shops, artist studios, and artisans workshops. There is a wealth of antique shops and centres and of course, a hugely diversified selection of good restaurants.

Cap d'Agde
a lively town with a large thriving Marina thronged with all types of restaurants, many catering for fresh seafood enthusiasts;Either side of the marina lie very diverse beaches. On one side are family orientated beaches including a water park, boating and all other types of water sports, whilst on the other side of the Cap lies the huge naturist village, and the sandy unspoiled beach of Marseillan Plage, which is loosely divided into areas for all types, both nudist and clothed, gay and straight, but everyone seems happy to get along. Even the ice cream seller enters into the spirit of the beach, donning or shedding his shorts as he pushes his cart along the clear blue waters edge! There are further beaches at Grau d'Agde and la Tamarisserie.
The Ephèbe Museum, with its Greek statue and other relics recovered from under the sea and an aquarium are also here. The 16th century Bescou fort. Kite flying festival is in April and the Festival of the Sea in July. The Autumn boat show is in October. There are plenty of opportunities for walking and cycling to discover the surrounding area, including the Canal du Midi. |

Sete
is between cities of Montpelier and Beziers lies the thriving town of Sete, often described as the Venice of the South of France due to the fact that the town is carved into 3 main areas by the waterways that run through the centre.
Sete is still an important fishing port which supplies the waterfront restaurants with daily, fresh fish. The town has many smart shops, cinema's and a theatre, and has something to see and do at any time of year. |

Vias Plage
is our nearest beach, it is 35 minutes drive from the house, Situated in between Cap d'Agde and Valras Plage, this small bay has some of the warmest water in the Languedoc. You will of course find beaches with better facilities, but as an overall package, Vias Plage tops them all.
This popular Languedoc beach is sheltered, with golden sands and easily accessible even in the height of summer. Vias Plage is featured in our Top 5 list of Best Languedoc beaches. To get to Vias Plage, come off the A9 at junction 34 and take the RN312 to Vias. Then follow the signs to Vias plage. We always head right into the heart of Vias Plage, where all the beach bars, restaurants and shops are, and then take a right turn past the campsite. If you keep following the track you will come to another car park that invariably has spaces. We prefer this area of Vias plage as the beach is usually quieter. is just a 25 minute drive from Arc en Ciel , and was carved over millions of years by the river Heric, through the moutains, It tumbles and flows through countless rapids, pools and waterfalls, forming individual beaches and swimming pools, ideal for an intimate picnic with local wine or ice cold beer. or for a 1hr 45 minute walk to the hamlet at the head of the Gorge, where home made food and cold drinks and ice cream can be purchased.

Vineyards
The two adjacent Languedoc wine appellations of Faugères and St Chinian are similar in size, grape varieties, soil types and styles of wine. Both appellations were even created in the same year–1982. But Faugères has long lived in the shadow of St Chinian; mostly because of the greater notoriety of several St Chinian winemakers.
